Police submit challan in Patiala court against agitating teachers'

In a clear message to the agitating teachers’ unions who have been holding illegal dharnas in Patiala, the district police have submitted a challan in the court here, a week after registering a case against the union members and the agitating farmer union members who supported the illegal dharna.

On December 2, SSA RAMSA Teachers Union and Adarsh Model School Union, along with Kisan Union (Ughrahan), organised a dharna at the grain market, Mehmadpur, “without taking due permission from DM Patiala” in violation of the Punjab and Haryana High Court orders.

On December 2, a case was registered against Didar Singh Mudki, president, SSA RAMSA Teachers Union; Amritpal S Sidhu, president, Adarsh Model School Union; Joginder Singh Ughrahan, president, Kisan Union Ughrahan; and others. The challan was submitted in the court of Judicial Magistrate Rupa Dhaliwal. The next date of the case is December 21.

Teachers’ unions have been holding Patiala to ransom holding dharnas in the city without permission and causing inconvenience to locals, following which the police registered the FIR and submitted the challan in less than a week.
